Administrator (1 position)

In this system, there will only be one spot available for this position.
  • The admin is given the authority to “veto” any motion made by the staff.  A vote from the administrator in the Character Pool and Realm Development will ensure that it will be passed or denied.  The admin has the most authority and the ability to finalize a decision.
  • The administrator is accountable for the News and Announcements board and well as the moderation of the Council of Elders boards and the Administration boards.
  • The administrator is also responsible for: the running of all chat meetings, the punishment and banning of members, the addition of new staff members, and external relations with other sites.

Counsellors (4 positions)

There are four counsellor positions: character counsellor, development counsellor, community counsellor, and technical counsellor.
  • Each counsellor is the head of their sphere giving them authority on all decisions and responsibilities of that specific sphere.  They are responsible only to the administrator.
  • One of the most important duties of the counsellors is acting as the public link between the member base and the administration.  All members should direct their comments, concerns, questions, and complaints to the appropriate counsellor and NOT to advisors.  It is done this way to eliminate the confusion of misinformation and differing opinions among certain issues.
  • The second key responsibility of the counsellors is the management of their appropriate advisors.  They are responsible for making sure and helping the advisors accomplish their duties.  If an advisor is shirking their duties and is thus slowing a members progress, report it to their counsellor and it is their responsibility to take care of it.
  • Counsellors are responsible for upper-level duties of each sphere which the advisors are unable to do.

Advisors (Undefined # of positions)

There is an undefined amount of spots available to the advisor positions.  Advisors are selected members of GoA who volunteer their time to help run and regulate the site.  In general, they promote discussion in the staff boards and are the workers of each of the four spheres.  Thus, there are four different types of advisors and there is an undefined amount of each type: character, development, community, and technical.  An interesting feature of this position is that one person can accept the position and responsibility of two advisors.  The responsibilities of each type of advisor are as follows:

Character Advisors
  • Responsible for reviewing, commenting on, and approving or rejecting character applications within the Character Pool.  Here, there is a majority vote rule meaning that it takes, not a set number of votes, but a majority (of the character counsellor and character advisors) to approve or reject a character application or update.
  • They assist newcomers if they have problems with their character application.  Also when newcomers get approved, the character advisors help them find a thread to join, if they need help.
  • Character advisors also moderate and regulate posts and behavior within the Character Pool as well as in the Player Sphere.

Development Advisors
  • Responsible for reviewing, commenting on, and approving or rejecting development documents within the Realm Development board.  Here, there is again a majority vote rule meaning that it takes, not a set number of votes, but a majority (of the development counsellor and development advisors) to approve or reject development documents or updates.
  • Development advisors write in-character news (approved by their counsellor) and post it in the Herald.  They also act, as needed, as NPCs in player’s threads or in special in-character events.
  • They moderate the Realm Development board, the Player Sphere, and play a major role in the answering of relevant questions in the Question & Answer board.
  • Updating and editing documents that are in or need to be added to the Library.

Community Advisors
  • The duties of the community advisors vary and are dependent on present happenings in the OOC boards.  Thus they are responsible to the community counsellor.
  • The most prominent task of community advisors is supervising behavior and monitoring the OOC boards by making sure members are adhering to the rules.
  • Regulating the GoA chat room and acting as the chat admin.

Technical Advisors
  • If a technical advisor exists they will pretty much act as a “technical counsellor in-training”, they will be given their responsibilities directly from their counsellor and they will also be granted limited administration controls to do technical work.
