Background

Several hundred years have passed since the creation of the Golden Conclave; memory of the Forgotten Gods’ warning had all but vanished yet Aedolyn continued to flourish.  In Bavkür, unrest was brewing and dissatisfaction with Malkur had become widespread.  Malkur searched desperately for a way to regain support and finally, pressured and fraught, he thoughtlessly promised the citizens of Bavkür the ‘Gift of the Gods’.  In his mind, this slip was an assurance of his utter demise, but he had to follow through.  Over the next few weeks, his popularity skyrocketed and word of his promise spread rampantly across Aedolyn kicking up much talk.  People had been searching for the legendary Gates for hundreds of years with no luck, and even if they found one of the Gates, they would have had to face a vicious dragon to get anywhere near it.  Needless to say, Malkur’s morale wasn’t high.  He set off on his own, after many days of celebrations in Bavkür, in the direction of Turuva in search of one of the five Gates.

A year had passed, and not word from Malkur ever reached the ears of Bavkür.  Hope had slowly fizzled out and the peoples of the Bavkür Alliance went back to their everyday lives trying to ignore the thriving nations to the south.  Then, unexpectedly, Malkur returned to Svaalgor Keep and convened an emergency meeting of the Golden Conclave.  Not many know what actually happened during the meeting, but it is said that Malkur promised to share the power of the Gates with every nation of Aedolyn and that is why they permitted him to open the Gate in the first place.   When it was over, Malkur returned to Turuva, defeated the dragon, and unlocked Sharrum Gate.  His official return to Bavkür as the master of Sharrum Gate was marked by tremendous celebrations.

After the celebrations died down the other members of the Golden Conclave began questioning Malkur on his previous promise to distribute the Gate’s powers equally.  He, in return, refused to grant them access and this betrayal was met by the demise of the ancient Golden Conclave.  The guarantee of everlasting prosperity had been shattered and the effect of the warning of the Forgotten Gods began to manifest.

Situation

The other nations of Aedolyn are feeling pressured by Malkur’s betrayal and are desperately searching for the other four Gates across Aedolyn.  They are looking to recruit any who are willing to join search parties who are inspired by the grand rewards that the nations are offering.

Malkur, after building up the forces of the Bavkür Alliance and becoming acquainted with magic, has decided to send a small fleet, carrying members of the Bavkür army, to bombard the city of Zal’Garish.  He wants to test out his new powers and there was no better target than his rival for the last several hundred years, the Nívak Federation.  For the next few weeks, Malkur will be recruiting people in Svaalgor Keep and Vanwar to join the fleet to bombard Zal’Garish.  He has put much effort into keeping this plan a secret and he has succeeded in doing so, many across Bavkür are unaware of what is going on.

In the Kingdom of Nâvirfëll, tension is building between the wood, low, and high elves.  Illúvëa, in particular, is facing many new challenges where many high elves are openly discriminating against the others.  They feel as if Illúvëa should be a pure city under the noble leadership and management of only high elves and Avandor.  Taldëon, on the other hand, openly accepts all elves, but radicals are beginning to respond to the discriminations in Illúvëa with discriminations of their own against the high elves; the government of Taldëon, however, is avidly trying to prevent such actions by searching for these radical anti-high elf groups.

More tension is brewing to the east of Nâvirfëll in the Galstrom Alliance.  Viscerra is having trouble trying to control the several different races of her nation who have recently revived ancient rifts.  The humans of Zul’Caer, in particular, are the most rambunctious.

Upcoming Events

  • The Bavkür fleet invasion of Zal’Garish.  This will result in a few weeks of fighting that will overwhelm the forces of Zal’Garish and Sephria will call for the aid of Calill who will answer and together, they will be able to fight off Malkur’s meager force.
  • Malkur’s official offer of an alliance with Viscerra of the Galstrom Alliance and Halvak of the Angard Empire.
  • Revolts in the northern regions of Galstrom under the leadership of the humans from Zul’Caer.
  • Viscerra’s success in quickly and swiftly putting an end to the revolts and cursing the Galstrom Coasts, turning it into the Badlands and the Plaguelands.
  • Sephria discovering and unlocking the Tolariar Gate and creating an alliance with Calill
  • The beginning major signs of the Elf Civil War.
