Sectioning
The Table of Contents mod. While still in the works, is available for everyone to use and is a good way to format your write-ups. These provide anchored links for each section, as well as proper header formatting.

Tip: To add a line that runs horizontally across the screen like on Wikipedia, insert [ hr ] beside one of the header tags.

Example:
Code: [Select]
Test

Referencing
Provide any reference material that you may have, such as: links, images, quotes, etc. Make sure you're being clear when writing your article.

• Use Your Links Properly
Whenever you're quoting someone off-site, please provide a reference link to his/her website (leave their name if they don't have a website).  When an important figure, race, or city is mentioned, please provide a link to its write-up (if it has one) in our Library. For example, if Sephria was mentioned, you would link to her here. If something is mentioned multiple times, do not give a link for it each time - only once is necessary (and preferably, the first time it's mentioned).
• Use Images
Using images in your write-ups provides a visual aid and a helpful glance into what you're trying to portray. You can link to images and resize them with our forum:
Example:
Code: [Select]

[/img]

Writing Style
Use the SMF Bulletin Board Code (BBC). This is provided above the textbox that you write your posts in. For a more intricate guide on which ones to use, read the SMF Help Manual.

Last, but not least, is uniformity. A preference (and that's as much as it may be), is that our Library only have one voice for all the articles within it. Each article needs to sound as though it was written by the same person, in the same tone, with the same formatting. This is difficult because there will certainly be several different authors throughout the entire Library. A tip that might help this cause would be: before writing your article, browse through the category that you're contributing to so you can get a feel of all of the other authors' style. Whatever writing style stands out the most and is used the most is what you should try to portray.

Not doing this won't necessarily have your article disapproved, but it's extremely helpful to future readers.

Templates

These templates are the basic structure we require all applicable development to follow.  If they don't fit what you had in mind exactly, feel free to add a section, but do not delete any sections.  If you are working on a piece of development that isn't addressed below, then make your own template and it may become the standard one.
