The Four Spheres

At GoA, all activity is divided into four sections and these four sections play a major role in the inner workings and organization of the site.  The four spheres are:
  • Character
The character sphere is focused on the character application, approval, and development processes in the Character Pool board.  The welcoming and involvement of newcomers in the site, both out-of-character and in-character, is also encompassed here (within the Player Sphere board).  The character sphere, although quite simple, is the most important of the four since it is the first sphere in which newcomers experience and judge, thus defining the member-base of GoA.
  • Development
Outside of the character approval process, everything that has to deal with in-character issues is within the development sphere.  The center of the development sphere is the library and the development of the world as well as the fluidity of the realm.  By fluidity, we mean the interaction between PCs (player characters) and NPCs (non-player characters), essentially making the world come to life.  This is accomplished though the Herald and the Player Sphere, thus all in-character news, developments, and events are included in the development sphere.  Keeping members involved in the world and keeping interest high is the main goal of the development sphere.
  • Community
The out-of-character community of GoA is of high importance and thus is separately represented in the four spheres of the site.  The community sphere includes all of the out-of-character boards, the chat, and any other OOC events that GoA may be hosting.  The link between the community and the staff is probably the most important area of the community sphere, this is accomplished though chat meetings, discussions, polls, and the open staff boards.  All members of GoA are included within the community sphere and thus it is very attune to the public and their concerns, needs, and desires.
  • Technical
The technical sphere is what keeps GoA running.  Thus includes most of the behind-the-scenes work, but is still highly important.  Here is where issues dealing with the homepage, forum, library, chat, guilds, etc are dealt with.  Although it may be unnoticed most of the time, it is linked with the public though the Technical Support board.
